A resolution honoring Rosalind Robinson and AAA-Residential Resources, Inc. for 25 years of service to the people of Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, Rosalind Robinson 25 years ago created AAA-Residential Resources, Inc. to supply quality affordable housing advocacy, counseling, information, education, and referral services; and

 

WHEREAS, AAA-Residential Resources, Inc. was incorporated by the State of Tennessee on October 31, 1997 and received the Internal Revenue Service's exemption status as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization on February 13, 1998, is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”) approved Comprehensive Housing Counseling Agency, an affiliate of HomeFree USA and partners with the Tennessee Housing Development Agency (“THDA”), Metropolitan Development Housing Agency (“MDHA”) and other local entities; and

 

WHEREAS, over the past years, AAA-Residential Resources, Inc. has supplied (HUD verified) various housing assistance in Davidson and the immediate surrounding Counties to over 25,908 families, of which there were 7,451 homes purchased, 5,752 foreclosure intervention, 1,056 rental eviction prevention and families with other housing needs; and

 

WHEREAS, AAA-Residential Resources, Inc.’s small staff consisting of 2 FTEs and 2 PTEs has over 70 years of combined experience and a number of professional certifications in the affordable housing industry and have received numerous awards for its service delivery; and

 

WHEREAS, Rosalind Robinson, the Founder/CFO of AAA-Residential Resources, Inc. has over 45 years of experience in the affordable housing services industry, beginning with the Neighborhood Reinvestment Institute (NeighborWorks America's®) and continued actions to enhance her agency’s services; and

 

WHEREAS, Rosalind Robinson is an innovator and because of her concern that clients sustain their choice of housing, she initiated the first financial literacy program in Nashville, which she titled “Economic Empowerment.” In addition to her own agency, she also provided financial literacy education and/or homebuyer education classes for clients at other agencies. She also initiated the inclusion of real estate professionals in the education process to not only introduce clients to those professionals, but to help eliminate apprehensions that often prohibited the client from making sound choices when interacting with them. She also initiated client monitoring to assure clients achieved their housing goal; and

 

WHEREAS, Rosalind Robinson also aided in the establishment of THDA's statewide Homebuyer Education program and her counselors are responsible for training people in accordance with NeighborWorks America's® mandated industry standards. Rosalind Robinson was recognized by the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, with the 2nd Annual Vicki George Award of Excellence, for her contributions to homebuyer education in the state. She also worked in the trenches with late Rev. Bill Barnes to establish Nashville’s Barnes Fund.  She is the co-founder of TNT - Tying Nashville Together, McFerrin Park Community Association, the Tennessee Fair Housing Council and was its former chair.  She serves as the housing chair for the NAACP for over 15 years and as the Nashville Urban League former housing director. She also served on numerous community committees. Rosalind Robinson has received numerous awards for her affordable housing and equity advocacy; and

 

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council honor Rosalind Robinson and the tremendous impact of AAA-Residential Resources on affordable housing in Nashville and Davidson County.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

 

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council of Nashville-Davidson County hereby recognizes the leadership of Rosalind Robinson and of AAA-Residential Resources, Inc.’s 25 years of service to the people of Nashville and Davidson County.

 

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
