A resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement between the United States Marshals Service (USMS), and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, to investigate and apprehend local, state, and federal fugitives.

WHEREAS, the United States Marshals Service (USMS) has requested that the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department assist with the investigation and apprehension of fugitives; and,
WHEREAS, the intergovernmental agreement attached hereto and incorporated herein provides terms for such participation and cooperation between the agencies; and,
WHEREAS, T.C.A. ? 12-9-104 authorizes the Metropolitan Government to enter into intergovernmental agreements with agencies of the federal government for cooperative projects by resolution of the governing body; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this intergovernmental agreement be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the intergovernmental agreement by and between the United States Department Marshals Service (USMS), and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, to investigate and apprehend local, state, and federal fugitives, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.
Section 2. That any funds obtained by the Metropolitan Government pursuant to this intergovernmental agreement shall be appropriated to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
