A resolution amending Resolution RS2022-1583 by transferring $75,000.00 previously appropriated from Fund #30096 to the Tennessee Justice Center, Inc; and reducing the funds appropriated to Elijah’s Heart to $50,000.

WHEREAS, Resolution RS2022-1583 appropriated $75,000 from Fund #30096 to Napier Kitchen Table to provide out of school support focused on job training and meal preparation; and,

WHEREAS, Resolution RS2022-1583 also appropriated $100,000 from Fund #30096 to Elijah’s Heart to provide out of school support and mentoring focusing on literacy and food security; and,

WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office recommends that the $75,000 previously appropriated in Resolution RS2022-1583 to Napier Kitchen Table be transferred to the Tennessee Justice Center, Inc., to construct and operate a community commercial Kitchen to support a youth development program focusing on job readiness and entrepreneurship programs as well as community engagement of adults and families to support residents of the Napier and Sudekum communities; and,

WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office further recommends that the $100,000 previously appropriated in Resolution RS2022-1583 to Elijah’s Heart to provide out of school support and mentoring focusing on literacy and food security be reduced to $50,000; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this resolution be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That Resolution RS2022-1583 which appropriated $820,000.00 from Fund #30096 is hereby amended as provided herein.

Section 2.                     That the $75,000.00 previously appropriated to Napier Kitchen Table in Resolution RS2022-1583 from Fund #30096 is hereby appropriated and transferred to the Tennessee Justice Center, Inc., to construct and operate a community commercial Kitchen to support a youth development program focusing on job readiness and entrepreneurship programs as well as community engagement of adults and families to support residents of the Napier and Sudekum communities.

Section 3.                     That the $100,000.00 previously appropriated to Elijah’s Heart in Resolution RS2022-1583 from Fund #30096 to provide out of school support and mentoring focusing on literacy and food security is hereby reduced to $50,000. 

Section 4.                       The Metropolitan Government is hereby authorized to enter into grant contracts with the nonprofit organizations, Tennessee Justice Center, Inc. and Elijah’s Heart, for the amounts provided herein and for the purposes stated. Such contracts shall specify the terms and conditions under which the grant funds are to be spent. Such contracts shall require these nonprofit organizations to submit end-of-the-year expenditures and activity reports.

Section 5.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution amends Resolution No. RS2022-1583, previously approved at the Council’s June 2, 2022 meeting. RS2022-1583 appropriated a total of $820,000 from Fund #30096 to various nonprofit organizations selected to receive Public Safety Violence Reduction Pilot Grant Funds. Included in RS2022-1583 was an appropriation to Napier Kitchen Table for $75,000 to provide out of school support focused on job training and meal preparation and an appropriation to Elijah’s Heart for $100,000 to provide out of school support and mentoring focused on literacy and food security.

 

The resolution transfers the $75,000 previously appropriated to Napier Kitchen Table to the Tennessee Justice Center, Inc., to construct and operate a community commercial Kitchen to support a youth development program focusing on job readiness and entrepreneurship programs as well as community engagement of adults and families to support residents of the Napier and Sudekum communities. The resolution also reduces the appropriation to Elijah’s Heart from $100,000 to $50,000. The Metropolitan Government is authorized to enter into grant contracts with the Tennessee Justice Center, Inc. and Elijah’s Heart.
