An ordinance approving an agreement between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, the Nashville 2024 Host Committee, and the Republican National Committee for the 2024 Republican National Convention.

WHEREAS, the Republican National Committee (the “RNC”) desires for Nashville, Tennessee to serve as the site of the 2024 Republican National Convention (the “Convention”); and,
WHEREAS, the Nashville 2024 Host Committee, a nonprofit organization organized under the laws of the State of Tennessee, has been established for the purpose of providing certain facilities, goods, equipment, and services, and to undertake certain obligations on behalf of the RNC, pertaining to the hosting of the Convention; and,
WHEREAS, the parties propose to establish their rights and responsibilities with respect to holding the Convention in Nashville in an agreement materially in the form attached as Exhibit A (the “Framework Agreement”); and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is willing, subject to cost reimbursement in accordance with the Framework Agreement, to provide support for security, emergency medical, and other Convention needs as provided in the Framework Agreement; and,
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the United States Congress will appropriate $50,000,000 to provide grants for municipal security activities associated with hosting the Convention (the “Security Grant”) as it has done for the previous presidential nominating conventions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Framework Agreement materially in the form of Exhibit A is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute it.
Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
