A Resolution recognizing the heroism of Nashville International Airport volunteer Earnest Cobble on April 17th, 2022.

WHEREAS, on the morning of April 17th, 2022, an armed individual entered the baggage claim area at the Nashville International Airport (BNA) threatening to harm themself; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Earnest Cobble, who retired from BNA’s Maintenance Department in December of 2021 after twenty-five years of service and who has volunteered at the airport since March of 2022, noticed this individual and proceeded to notify BNA’s Department of Public Safety; and

 

WHEREAS, with no thought to his own safety, Mr. Cobble attempted to comfort the armed individual who continued to threaten self-harm all while he directed others in the area to evacuate; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Cobble’s courageous and selfless actions averted a potentially disastrous situation and saved many lives that morning; and

 

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the heroic actions of Mr. Earnest Cobble for helping to keep Nashville residents and visitors safe.

 

NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

 

Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record recognizing the courage and heroism displayed by Mr. Earnest Cobble on that day and thanking him for his service to Nashville.

 

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
