WHEREAS, Spikes Canine Fund wishes to donate Ballistic Vests for Police Canines, valued at $37,500, to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, for protection from assaults; and,

WHEREAS, a copy of the donation documentation is attached hereto and incorporated herein; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to Metropolitan Code of Laws § 5.04.120(B), donations to departments exceeding $5,000 in value may be accepted upon approval of the Metropolitan Council by resolution; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this donation be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the donation by Spikes Canine Fund of Ballistic Vests for Police Canines, valued at $37,500, to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, pursuant to the donation documentation attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2.  That the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is hereby authorized to accept this donation for its use and benefit.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution accepts a donation of Ballistic Vests for Police Canines from Spikes Canine Fund, valued at $37,500, for the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (“MNPD”). These vests will be used to protect MNPD canines from assaults. Metropolitan Code Section 5.04.120(B) allows donations exceeding $5,000 to be accepted upon approval of a resolution of the Council.

 

Fiscal Note: The estimated value of the donated Ballistic Vests for Police Canines is $37,500.
