A Resolution expressing appreciation for the employees of the Nashville Electric Service and recognizing April 17, 2022, as Lineman Appreciation Day.

WHEREAS, each day, Nashville Electric Service (NES) employees serve the public by keeping the power on across Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, these employees work 24 hours a day, 365 day a year-through severe weather and catastrophic events including tornadoes, derechos, ice storms, and heat waves; and

WHEREAS, NES employees are part of a profession that is steeped in personal and professional tradition, working together as organized labor for over 50 years and creating one of the best power companies in the country to work for; and

WHEREAS, April 17, 2022, is recognized nationally as Lineman Appreciation Day; and

WHEREAS, NES linemen put their lives on the line every day, working in dangerous conditions in order to keep electricity flowing; and

WHEREAS, NES linemen and NES employees deserve recognition for their hard work and dedication to supporting electric infrastructure throughout the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY;

 

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as expressing appreciation for Nashville Electric Service employees, who work tirelessly each day to keep electricity flowing in Nashville and Davidson County.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council further goes on record as recognizing April 17, 2022, as Lineman Appreciation Day.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
