A resolution approving a memorandum of understanding between the Nashville Farmers' Market and the State of Tennessee, Department of General Services, for maintenance of the shared parking lot between the market and the Tennessee State Museum.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County entered into a lease agreement with the State of Tennessee in June 1995 to allow for construction of the Nashville Farmers' Market ("the Market"), with Metro exercising its option to renew the lease for an additional 20-year term in December of 2014; and,
WHEREAS, the renewed lease was amended on March 4, 2016, returning a 4.77 acre section of the leased property to the State for the purpose of constructing the Tennessee State Museum ("TSM") and a parking lot, which would be available for use by both the Market and TSM; and,
WHEREAS, the Market and TSM staff expressed concerns to the State of Tennessee, Department of General Services ("DGS") that included, but were not limited to, unauthorized parkers obstructing the use of the lot by Market and TSM patrons and the lot's overall security and maintenance; and,
WHEREAS, the representatives of the Market and the State have entered into an MOU in order to document the roles and responsibilities related to the lot and use thereof.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the memorandum of understanding by and between the Farmers' Market and the State of Tennessee, Department of General Services, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of the public requiring it.
