WHEREAS, on February 12, 2022, legendary North Nashville restaurant Ed's Fish and Pizza House celebrated 50 years in business; and

WHEREAS, Ed's Fish and Pizza House is located at the corner of Dr. D.B. Todd, Jr. Boulevard and Buchanan Street in North Nashville; and

WHEREAS, the restaurant was founded in 1972 by Ed Morris, Sr. and his son, Ed Morris, Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Ed's Fish and Pizza House has stayed in the family over the years, and the current owner, Anthony Williams, took over the restaurant from his grandfather, Anthony Drumwright. Anthony Williams worked at the restaurant during his youth and is the great nephew of founder Ed Morris, Sr., and

WHEREAS, despite outside pressures and rapid changes in North Nashville, Ed's Fish and Pizza House has thrived for 50 years because of the support from historically black college and university communities in the area, including Tennessee State University, Meharry Medical College, and Fisk University; and

WHEREAS, in celebration of the milestone anniversary, Ed's Fish and Pizza House sold their delicious fish sandwiches for just five dollars each as a token of their appreciation to loyal customers who have helped make the restaurant a success over the years; and

WHEREAS, at just 24 years old, Anthony Williams runs the restaurant with the help of his brother, a Nashville firefighter, and together they continue to dish out delicious food and hope to the community that a Black-owned business can not only survive, but thrive; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council celebrates the 50th anniversary of the iconic Ed's Fish and Pizza House and wishes them many more years of continued success.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
