WHEREAS, the 2021 East Nashville Eagles football team won the Region 5 3A Division Championship and made it past the second round of the playoffs for the first time in school history; and

WHEREAS, the team went to the state championship game in Chattanooga, finishing as state runner-up with a 10-5 record, having defeated three teams which had one or fewer losses; and

WHEREAS, the team loved to be doubted, which accelerated their bonding as a team; and

WHEREAS, the team was led by 14 seniors who gave it their all every day: Kharlito Archibald, Chazell Atkins, Elijah Brown, Jerry Campbell, Taylan Fletcher, Amarion Ford, Emarius Hyde, Kaymon Overton, Lamonte Shute, Joseph Stewart, DeMyius Trotter, Damon Upchurch, Damon Webb, and Willie Wilson; and

WHEREAS, Senior Running Back Amarion Ford won the William E. Hume Award, given annually to the MNPS football player who best exemplifies sportsmanship, scholarship, and football ability; and

WHEREAS, 13 players were named to the All-Region Team: Lamonte Shute, Chazell Atkins, Jerry Campbell, Damon Webb, DeMyius Trotter, Zack Beard, Frank Gordon, Emarius Hyde, LaDon Pointer, Malik Boling, Willie Wilson, Kaymon Overton, and Amarion Ford; and

WHEREAS, three players were named to the 3A All-State Team: Jerry Campbell, Frank Gordon, and Amarion Ford; and

WHEREAS, Running Back Coach Kelsea Fordham coached his first 2,000-yard running back; and

WHEREAS, Strength and Conditioning Coach Stephon Chambliss played a big part in helping the team stay healthy and accomplish so many accolades; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Jamaal Stewart was recognized as Medium Class Coach of the Year by 615 Preps. Coach Stewart teaches kids more than being great football players, he always teaches student-athletes how to become young men.
