A Resolution recognizing the Metro Public Health Department’s National Accreditation by the Public Health Accreditation Board.

WHEREAS, on November 23, 2021 the Metro Public Health Department achieved national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB); and

 

WHEREAS, the Public Health Accreditation Board was created to serve as the national public health accrediting body and is funded in part by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; and

 

WHEREAS, the national accreditation program works to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing the quality and performance of the nation’s Tribal, state, local, and territorial public health departments; and

 

WHEREAS, in order to receive accreditation, a health department must undergo a rigorous, multi-faceted, peer-reviewed assessment process to ensure it meets or exceeds a set of quality standards and measures; and

 

WHEREAS, the Metro Public Health Department joins Knox County as the only health departments in the state of Tennessee to achieve accreditation through PHAB, the non-profit organization that administers the national public health accreditation program; and

 

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and congratulates the Metro Public Health Department for their hard work and efforts to achieve national accreditation.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

 

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Metro Public Health Department’s National Accreditation by the Public Health Accreditation Board.

 

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
