A resolution approving amendments one and two to the Healthy Start Initiative - Eliminating Racial/Ethnic Disparities grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to provide a variety of services in reducing infant mortality for pregnant and parenting women.

Whereas, the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, previously entered into a grant agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to provide a variety of services in reducing infant mortality for pregnant and parenting women approved by RS2021-941; and,

WHEREAS, amendment one to the grant agreement increases the amount of the grant by $125,000.00 to support the Healthy Start Supplement:  Community-Based Doulas program for a new grant total of $1,111,796.00, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto; and, 

WHEREAS, amendment two to the grant agreement changes the program director in accordance with a prior approval request, a copy of which amendment two is attached hereto; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that amendments one and two be approved.

Now, therefore be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1.                     That amendments one and two to the Healthy Start Initiative - Eliminating Racial/Ethnic Disparities Grant by and between the U.S. Department of Health, and the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to provide a variety of services in reducing infant mortality for pregnant and parenting women, a copy of which amendments one and two are attached hereto and incorporated herein, are hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves the first and second amendments to the Healthy Start Initiative - Eliminating Racial/Ethnic Disparities grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, to the Metropolitan Board of Health. The grant, previously approved by RS2021-941, was to provide a variety of services in reducing infant mortality for pregnant and parenting women. The first amendment increases the amount of the grant by $125,000 to support the Health Start Supplement: Community-Based Doulas program for a new grant total of $1,111,796. The second amendment changes the program director in accordance with a prior approval request. The term of the grant remains April 1, 2021 and ends March 31, 2022.
