A resolution approving a contract by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Commerce and Insurance and the Metro Nashville Fire Department ("NFD"), for the provision of annual fire and building safety inspection services for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten through twelfth grade schools.

WHEREAS, the NFD shall conduct one (1) fire and building safety inspection per school within its jurisdiction The NFD shall conduct additional fire and building safety inspections as necessary, or upon request by the Department of Education program contact; and,
WHEREAS, approval of this contract is in best interest of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
Now, therefore be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:
Section 1. That the contract by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Commerce and Insurance and the Metro Nashville Fire Department ("NFD"), for the provision of annual fire and building safety inspection services for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten through twelfth grade schools, attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.
Section 2. That this resolution shall become effective from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This ordinance approves a contract between the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance ("State") and the Nashville Fire Department ("NFD") to provide annual fire and building safety inspections for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten through twelfth grade schools.
Under the contract, NFD would conduct one fire and building inspection per school within its jurisdiction for each school year. NFD would also be required to conduct additional inspections as necessary, or upon request by the Tennessee Department of Education ("DOE").
