A resolution approving an application for a Firearms Technical Assistance Project Pilot Site Initiative grant from the U. S. Department of Justice to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Office of Family Safety, to increase compliance with Tennessee firearms dispossession laws.

Whereas, the U. S. Department of Justice is accepting applications for a Firearms Technical Assistance Project Pilot Site Initiative grant with an award of $414,482.00 with no cash match required; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,  

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1.                     That the application for a Firearms Technical Assistance Project Pilot Site Initiative grant with an award of $414,482.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same, and the Metropolitan Nashville Office of Family Safety is authorized to submit said grant application to the U. S. Department of Justice.

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
