A resolution accepting a donation from the Congress Group in the amount of $2,500,000 as a contribution to the Barnes Housing Trust Fund and approving a donation from the Congress Group in the amount of $500,000 to a to-be-formed nonprofit entity for the benefit of Wharf Park.

WHEREAS, pursuant to Metropolitan Code of Laws § 5.04.120, the Metropolitan Council can approve donations, exclusive of donations of real estate, by resolution; and,
WHEREAS, as provided in the letter attached as Exhibit 1, the Congress Group proposes to donate $2,500,000 to the Barnes Housing Trust Fund to promote the development of affordable and workforce housing; and,
WHEREAS, also as provided in Exhibit 1, the Congress Group proposes to donate $500,000 to a to-be-formed nonprofit entity for the benefit of Wharf Park, and specifically for use in funding construction of a planned boathouse; and,
WHEREAS, approval of the donations for the benefit of the Barnes Housing Trust Fund and Wharf Park as provided in Exhibit 1 is in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Congress Group’s proposed donation of $2,500,000 to the Barnes Fund to promote the development of affordable and workforce housing, as proposed in Exhibit 1, is approved.
Section 2. The Congress Group’s proposed donation of $500,000 to a to-be-formed nonprofit entity for the benefit of Wharf Park, as proposed in Exhibit 1, is approved.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
