A resolution approving amendment one to a grant from the Tennessee Department of Health, to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to improve the health of the citizens of Davidson County through targeted strategies to prevent and control the use of tobacco.

Whereas, the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, previously entered into a grant agreement with the Tennessee Department of Health to improve the health of the citizens of Davidson County through targeted strategies to prevent and control the use of tobacco approved by RS2020-167; and, 

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the grant agreement to increase the amount of the grant by $48,000.00 from $127,500.00 to $175,500.00 and extend the end date of the grant to April 30, 2023, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that amendment one be accepted.

Now, therefore be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1.                     That amendment one to the grant by and between the Tennessee Department of Health and the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to improve the health of the citizens of Davidson County through targeted strategies to prevent and control the use of tobacco, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves the first amendment to a grant from the Tennessee Department of Health to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health. The grant, previously approved by RS2020-167, was to improve the health of the citizens of Davidson County through targeted strategies to prevent and control the use of tobacco.  The amendment increases the grant amount by $48,000, from $127,500 to $175,500, with no local cash match required. This amendment also extends the end date from March 31, 2023 to April 30, 2023.
