WHEREAS, on June 1, 2021, the Metropolitan Council adopted Ordinance No. BL2021-694 to require the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services (MWS) to prepare a Stormwater Masterplan to evaluate existing infrastructure throughout Davidson County in relation to current Stormwater Management Manual Standards; and

WHEREAS, MWS is required to submit a report to the Metro Council identifying the upgrades needed to conform to the Manual Standards and the cost of these upgrades by July 1, 2023; and

WHEREAS, to maintain and address sewer infrastructure needs throughout Davidson County, it is necessary for MWS to conduct a countywide assessment to comprehensively evaluate and identify capital projects necessary to correct existing deficits and prevent potential problems; and

WHEREAS, many already underserved areas in Davidson County are experiencing sewer capacity issues and have an increased risk of breaks or service interruptions; and

WHEREAS, a study to determine the current capacity of sewer infrastructure in Nashville and Davidson County as well as the future projected sewer needs is appropriate and should track with the Stormwater Masterplan study.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services shall conduct a study to evaluate the capacity and status of existing sewer infrastructure throughout Davidson County and to identify future sewer infrastructure needs. The results of this study shall be provided to the Metropolitan Council by July 1, 2023.
