WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, is accepting applications for a Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) grant with an award of $143,732.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the grant application of the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, for a Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) grant to reduce gun violence in Nashville, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is authorized to submit said application to the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration.

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves an application for a Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) grant from the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department to reduce gun violence in Nashville. This application is for a $143,732 grant and would be used to pay for overtime and equipment to investigate violent gun crimes in targeted areas for enhanced prosecution.
