WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Davidson County Juvenile Court, previously entered into a grant contract with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, for a Safe Baby Court to serve at risk children approved by RS2018-1041; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the grant contract to increase the amount of the grant by $232,179.00 for a new total of $968,179.00 with no cash match required and to extend the end date of the grant contract to June 30, 2022, a copy of which amendment five is attached hereto; and, 

WHEREAS, included in the total $232,179.00 budget of the FY2022 Safe Baby Court contract amendment with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services is $148,024.00 for salaries and benefit costs for personnel (Attachment A-5 Grant Budget) to be funded by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (Attachment A) which will be invoiced separately from other program expenditures; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that the grant and amendment five be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the grant by and between the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and amendment five to the grant by and between the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, and the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Davidson County Juvenile Court, for a Safe Baby Court to serve at risk children, copies of which are attached hereto and incorporated herein, are hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution accepts a grant from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to the Davidson County Juvenile Court. The resolution also approves amendment five to a grant agreement between the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services and the Davidson County Juvenile Court for a Safe Baby Court to serve at risk children.

 

The resolution approves amendment five to an agreement previously approved by Resolution No. RS2018-1041. This amendment extends the end date of the contract by one year, from June 30, 2021 to June 30, 2022. It also increases the funding of the grant by $232,179, from $736,000 to $968,179. $148,024 of this $232,179 increase is to be funded by a second agreement and will be paid for by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

 

The resolution also approves the grant agreement for $148,024 to fund salaries and benefits for personnel, including a Safe Baby Court Coordinator and/or a Safe Baby Court Magistrate. The salaries and benefit costs for personnel are invoiced separately from other program expenditures, which are covered in the other agreement. This grant contract becomes effective July 1, 2021 and ends on June 30, 2022.
