A resolution honoring the life of Dr. Matthew Walker III.

WHEREAS, Dr. Matthew Walker III passed from this life on April 24, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the Organization, Board of Directors, and staff of Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center offer their sincere condolences to the family, and recognize that this loss is magnified by the loss of a kind spirit, dedicated husband, father, friend, and colleague that continued to support his grandfather and family's legacy; and
WHEREAS, the love, support, and service to the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center and the work of their founder and his grandfather, Dr. Matthew Walker Sr. is very dear to the center's staff and they are eternally grateful. Matthew III's presence at the center's events, and his valuable input will be truly missed and was instrumental in the continued success of the Health Center; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Walker III had most recently participated in a virtual event and provided student scholarships at the center's Annual Matthew Walker Legacy Breakfast on Thursday, April 22, 2021; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Walker III performed his work on this earth in several capacities. At his untimely passing he was the Professor of the Practice of Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University's School of Engineering and Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences in the School of Medicine. He previously served as mechanical/biomedical engineer with NASA in Houston prior to earning his doctorate in cardiovascular biophysics and pharmacology; and
WHEREAS, Matthew Walker III completed his postdoctoral training in the Harvard-M.I.T. Division of Health Sciences and Technology, and prior to that he spent eight years at Merck Research Laboratories. With such an impressive education and career bio, it was evident that his greatest gifts were his love of mentoring and teaching, making him an exemplary role model for many students and peers; and
