WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, previously entered into a grant agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide a variety of services in reducing infant mortality for pregnant and parenting women approved by RS2020-372; and,

WHEREAS, the total amount of the grant award in RS2020-372 is increased by $10.00 from  $1,122,889.00 to $1,122,899.00 to correct a clerical error; and,

WHEREAS, amendment one to the grant agreement increases the amount of the grant by $21,222.00 from $1,122,899.00 to $1,144,121.00 and amendment two authorizes the carryover of an unobligated balance of $257,235.00 from year one of the grant; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that amendments one and two to this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That amendments one and two to the Healthy Start Initiative - Eliminating Racial/Ethnic Disparities Grant by and between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to provide a variety of services in reducing infant mortality for pregnant and parenting women, a copy of which amendments one and two are attached hereto and incorporated herein, are hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2.                     That the total amount of the grant award in RS2020-372 is hereby increased by $10.00 from $1,122,889.00 to $1,122,899.00.

Section 3.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves two amendments to a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the Metropolitan Board of Health. The proceeds from this Healthy Start Initiative - Eliminating Racial/Ethnic Disparities Grant are used to provide a variety of services in reducing infant mortality for pregnant and parenting women. The original grant approved by Resolution No. RS2020-372 was in the amount of $1,122,899 for a term of April 1, 2020 through March 31, 2021. This resolution approves two amendments to the grant. The first amendment increases the grant award by $21,222 for a new total of $1,144,121. Amendment two carries forward $257,235 in unobligated funds from the previous grant award, for a new total to be spent of $1,401,356.
