WHEREAS, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC) is a nonprofit located in downtown Nashville that celebrates and supports performing and cultural arts; and
WHEREAS, TPAC was founded in 1980 and recently celebrated their 40th anniversary on February 20, 2021 with a free, virtual celebration hosted by actor Tamiko Robinson Steele; and
WHEREAS, the 40th Anniversary Celebration featured TPAC's three professional resident companies: Nashville Ballet, Nashville Opera, and Nashville Repertory Theatre, and included special guest appearances by Tony Award-nominee Susan Egan, actor and recording artist Diana DeGarmo, award-winning artist Nan Gurley, and Spotlight Award-winner Hatty King; and
WHEREAS, in addition to its three resident artistic companies, TPAC administers one of the largest and most comprehensive arts education programs in the U.S., serving students from pre-school to high school, as well as educators and adults; and
WHEREAS, over the past 40 years, TPAC has welcomed more than 14 million audience members and served more than 1.8 million students, educators, and adults with their performances, teacher resources, professional development opportunities, classroom residencies, and enrichment programs; and
WHEREAS, TPAC currently provides numerous arts education programs including Wolf Trap Early Learning Through the Arts, TPAC InsideOut, Disney Musicals in Schools, and Spotlight Awards; and
WHEREAS, Nashville has become a major market for Broadway touring productions, and TPAC has made it possible for audiences to see many hit Broadway shows as well as a variety of special engagements from iconic performers, musicians, comedians, and dance companies; and
WHEREAS, TPAC's mission is to lead with excellence in the performing arts and arts education, creating meaningful and relevant experiences to enrich lives, strengthen communities, and support economic vitality; and
