A resolution authorizing the employment of Margaret O. Darby as Special Counsel and Director of the Council Office for the Metropolitan County Council.

WHEREAS, Section 8.607 of the Charter of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County provides that when the interests of the Metropolitan County Council (the “Council”) require legal counsel, the Council may, by resolution, authorize the Vice Mayor to employ such legal counsel under such terms and conditions as the Council may approve by resolution; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Council to employ Margaret O. Darby as a full time Special Counsel, and as such Special Counsel to act as Director of the Metropolitan Council Office.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the interests of the Council require legal counsel and the Vice Mayor is authorized to employ Margaret O. Darby as Special Counsel.
Section 2. That Margaret O. Darby shall, in addition to providing services as Special Counsel, serve as Director of the Metropolitan Council Office.
Section 3. That the Contract, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference, by and between the Metropolitan County Council, Jim Shulman, Vice Mayor, and Margaret O. Darby, be and the same is hereby approved.
Section 4. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby terminates the contract previously approved by RS2019-36, otherwise set to expire October 31, 2023.
Section 5. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
