A resolution appropriating a total of $464,000 from the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of Homeless Services, to The Salvation Army for the provision of housing services to people experiencing homelessness in Nashville.

WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations in accordance with the guidelines of the Metropolitan Government; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, The Salvation Army provides housing and other services for people experiencing homelessness including those in Nashville, Tennessee; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of Homeless Services, wishes to appropriate funding and contract with The Salvation Army for the provision of housing services to people experiencing homelessness in Nashville, Tennessee; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to this nonprofit organization.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated Four Hundred Sixty-Four Thousand Dollars ($464,000) from the Metropolitan Government acting by and through the Office of Homeless Services to The Salvation Army for the provision of housing services to people experiencing homelessness in Nashville.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Government acting by and through the Office of Homeless Services is hereby authorized to enter into the grant contract, attached hereto and incorporated herein, for the amount provided herein and the purposes stated. Such contract shall speci...
