A resolution recognizing Hillsboro High School Boys’ Basketball Coach Rodney Thweatt on being named Coach of the Year.

WHEREAS, Coach Rodney Thweatt is a coach, teacher, and mentor for many students at Hillsboro High School; and
WHEREAS, Coach Thweatt has been teaching and coaching at Hillsboro High School for the last 17 years; and
WHEREAS, Thweatt is a psychology and sociology teacher, and is head coach of the Burros boys’ basketball team; and
WHEREAS, Thweatt’s classes range from standard psychology to International Baccalaureate Diploma Program level courses, and his passion for teaching is equally met by his passion for basketball and coaching; and
WHEREAS, known as Coach T by students and friends, Thweatt earned a psychology degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, the place that also marked the beginning of his coaching career; and
WHEREAS, Thweatt’s unique coaching style has been instrumental in the basketball team’s success as shown by their dynamic and successful season this year; and
WHEREAS, Coach Thweatt was named District 11-AAAA Coach of the Year and MNPS AAAA Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the achievements of Coach Rodney Thweatt and thanks him for his continued dedication to his students and athletes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County hereby goes on record as recognizing Hillsboro High School Boys’ Basketball Coach Rodney Thweatt on being named Coach of the Year.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
