WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security is accepting applications from eligible law enforcement agencies for the School Resource Officer Program grant with an award not to exceed $4,200,000. This represents the placement of one School Resource Officer funded at $75,000 per year at 56 schools in Davidson County; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to the conditional mayoral approval process provided for in the Metropolitan Code of Laws ? 5.04.075(B), the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department completed and submitted the application to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, subject to approval by the Council of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County; and,
WHEREAS, the information completed by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department on the application, including the Memorandum of Understanding described in the application instructions that was submitted as part of the application, is confidential and not subject to release or distribution to the public pursuant to Tenn. Code. Ann. ? 10-7-504(p); and,
WHEREAS, due to the confidentiality restriction, a blank copy of the application is attached hereto for reference; and,
WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,
Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
