A resolution recognizing Vanderbilt University football team for its historic 10-win season.

WHEREAS, the Vanderbilt Commodores football team completed its 2025 season with 10 wins, the most in school history, with victories over Louisiana State University, the University of Missouri, and the University of Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, the Commodores' success was led by individuals such as quarterback Diego Pavia, who was named the Southeastern Conference's Offensive Player of the Year, received the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, and finished as runner-up in voting for the Heisman Trophy. His swagger and commanding demeanor set the tone for a squad whose confidence and ability grew throughout the season; and
WHEREAS, tight end Eli Stowers won the 2025 John Mackey Award, given to the best tight end in the country, and the 2025 William V. Campbell Trophy, often called the "Academic Heisman," recognizing the top college football player with the best combination of academics, leadership, and on-field performance; and
WHEREAS, head coach Clark Lea, a Vanderbilt alum, was named SEC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year, making him the only coach in program history to win the award in back-to-back years; and
WHEREAS, Athletic Director Dr. Candice Storey Lee, a Vanderbilt alum and 2024-2025 NACDA Athletic Director of the Year, is Vanderbilt's first female athletic director and the first Black woman to head an SEC athletics program. Dr. Lee has transformed Vanderbilt athletics and helped pave the way for the success of Vanderbilt's football team; and
WHEREAS, the Commodores' stellar performance led to their highest-ever ranking in the College Football Playoff rankings, its highest place in the Associated Press poll since 1937, and an appearance in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, Florida; and
