A resolution recognizing Nashville Fire Department employee Marcus S. Bagwell, Sr. as 2023 EMT of the Year.

WHEREAS, The Tennessee Ambulance Service Association (TASA) named Metro Nashville Fire Department (NFD) employee Marcus S. Bagwell, Sr. as their organization’s 2023 EMT of the Year; and
WHEREAS, TASA’s EMT of the Year award is given to an individual in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the field of emergency medical services and commitment to the well-being of the community they serve; and
WHEREAS, Marcus S. Bagwell, Sr. joined the Nashville Fire Department in 1985 and currently serves as an A-EMT; and
WHEREAS, NFD Deputy Director of EMS Operations, Fred Smith, noted that Bagwell is the “gold standard for patient care, kindness, professionalism, compassion, and dedication to doing his best every shift”; and
WHEREAS, NFD Director Chief William Swann commended Bagwell for the much-deserved honor from TASA, noting that working in the field of emergency response is not an easy career, adding that Bagwell performs his duties at the highest level and serves as a stellar example to others in the department; and
WHEREAS, TASA honored and presented the award to Bagwell during their Mid-Winter Leadership Conference in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on February 21, 2024; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and celebrates Marcus S. Bagwell, Sr. for his hard work and dedicated service to the people of Nashville and Davidson County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Marcus S. Bagwell, Sr. as The Tennessee Ambulance Service Association’s 2023 EMT of the Year.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
