A resolution appropriating a total of $1,248,108 from a certain account of the Community Safety Fund for grants to various nonprofit organizations for South Nashville Community Safety programs.

WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Public Health Department has recommended that a total of $1,248,108 of the funds appropriated for community safety grants in Substitute BL2024-373 be distributed to the specific nonprofit organizations named below; and,
WHEREAS, the grants will be utilized for services pertaining to South Nashville Community Safety programs; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to the specified nonprofit organizations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated a total of $1,248,108 from Fund No. 38730600 to nonprofit organizations as follows:
a) $625,108 to the Urban League of Middle Tennessee to implement a program focusing on the prevention and mitigation of group, community violence, and gun-related violent activities and their resulting aftermath and impact on our community, to intervene and intercede when such activity is identified, and to provide assistance and support to individuals, families and communities negatively impacted by violence within the Metro Nashville and Davidson County community; and,
