A resolution honoring the life of Hwarang Joo.

WHEREAS, on November 24, 2024, Hwarang Joo, known to friends as “Jay”, was killed in a shooting outside of his business; and
WHEREAS, Hwarang owned the restaurant “Hot Stuff Chicken and Fish” on Bell Road; and
WHEREAS, as Hwarang left the restaurant for the night, he was struck and killed when teenagers opened fire on a car parked near him; and
WHEREAS, Hwarang immigrated to the United States from South Korea and eventually settled in Antioch; and
WHEREAS, Hwarang was a loving son and brother and a devoted husband and father; and
WHEREAS, Hwarang leaves behind his wife and two young sons; and
WHEREAS, his death leaves a void not only in his family, but in the community; and
WHEREAS, tragically, Hwarang was an innocent bystander whose life was taken by a senseless act of gun violence; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council honor the life of this kind and caring member of the Nashville community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring the life of Hwarang Joo.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
