An ordinance to amend the Geographic Information Systems Street and Alley Centerline Layer for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by renaming Woodruff Street, between Gallatin Pike and the Peggy Street and Linda Lane intersection, to "David McMurry Way" (Proposal Number 2021M-007SR-001).

WHEREAS, the request for the street name change has been requested by the District 8 Council Member, Nancy VanReece, applicant; and,
WHEREAS, David McMurry was deeply involved in community development and spent countless hours volunteering to improve Nashville as described in the attached Resolution 2020-670: and,
WHEREAS, the District 8 Council Member would like to honor David McMurry's spirit of volunteerism for years to come by renaming Woodruff Street; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed request to change the name of this right-of-way has been submitted to and approved by the Metropolitan Planning Commission, and other relevant agencies of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, in accordance with Metropolitan Code ? 13.08.015; and,
WHEREAS, the community deems it appropriate that said name be changed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Geographic Information Systems Street and Alley Centerline Layer for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, as enacted by Ordinance No. BL2020-555, be and is hereby amended, as follows:
Renaming Woodruff Street to "David McMurry Way", from Gallatin Pike to the intersection of Peggy Street and Linda Lane, all of which is more particularly described by lines, words and figures on the sketch, which is attached hereto and made a part of this ordinance as though copied herein.
