A resolution recognizing the 40th anniversary season of the Nashville Repertory Theatre.

WHEREAS, the Nashville Repertory Theatre has spent four decades presenting musicals, plays, and reimagined classics in Nashville and Davidson County; and
WHEREAS, the Nashville Repertory Theatre was founded in 1985 by Martha Rivers Ingram and Mac Pirkle. The theatre was charged with creating locally based theatrical productions for the Tennessee Performing Arts Center; and
WHEREAS, Nashville Repertory Theatre seasons now include main stage productions, the Ingram New Works Project, The Nashville Rep Conservatory, professional development and educational programs, outreach activities, and several special events; and
WHEREAS, the organization employs more than 200 actors, playwrights, designers, directors, musicians, technicians, and educators each year and serves as the leading employer of theatrical artists in Middle Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, more than 35,000 community members experience a Nashville Repertory Theatre production every year; and
WHEREAS, Nashville Repertory Theatre will open its 2024-2025 season on September 13, 2024 and plans to show five plays and musicals as part of its 40th anniversary season; and
WHEREAS, the season will also include new events such as a 40th anniversary concert and celebration gala, an intimate cabaret series, and a Young Stars Production where middle and high schoolers will perform in a fully staged, professional production; and
WHEREAS, Nashville Repertory Theatre is a place for everyone, and is committed to creating and equitable diverse, and inclusive organization and community; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper for the Metropolitan Council honor this milestone for Nashville Rep and those who develop and enjoy their productions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
