A resolution honoring the life and service of BNA K9 Blues.
body
WHEREAS, K9 Officer Blues, a male Belgian Malinois, served with Nashville International Airport’s (BNA) Department of Public Safety from 2015 to 2021 alongside Officer Ray Pyron as part of BNA’s K9 Explosive Detection Team; and
WHEREAS, Blues received intensive training focusing on bonding, socialization, and detection at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas; and
WHEREAS, K9 Officer Blues served with distinction and honor, having successfully passed all TSA annual evaluations; and
WHEREAS, Blues and Officer Pyron went above and beyond as part of the Super Bowl L security detail in San Francisco in 2016 - a mark of distinction, as the Department of Homeland Security is highly selective in choosing personnel for this duty; and
WHEREAS, after a brief illness, K9 Officer Blues passed away on August 17, 2021, and is held in high esteem and remembered as an effective, loyal, and highly valued member of the BNA team.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing BNA K9 Blues’ life and the critical role he played in keeping millions of BNA passengers, visitors, and employees safe during his tenure.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
