A resolution approving an agreement between the United States Department of the Army and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for Phase 7 of the Flood Preparedness Study in Davidson County, Tennessee.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County ("Metro") seeks to lessen the negative impacts of flooding in Davidson County, Tennessee; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Army is actively involved in the Metropolitan Government's Flood Preparedness Study; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Army and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County have determined that Phase 7 of the Flood Preparedness Study is needed to continue the Flood Preparedness Study; and,
WHEREAS, Phase 7 of the Flood Preparedness Study will progress the flood preparedness efforts with continuing technology transfer between Metro, USACE, FEMA, NWS, and USGS, update flood frequency analysis, future buildout analysis for Cumberland River tributary streams, future conditions analysis of the Cumberland River, HEC-RTS training, technology transfer, and modeling, and H&H modeling support; and,
WHEREAS, the agreement provides that the United States Department of the Army and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County will jointly fund the cost based on the scope of the Study; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that the agreement be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the agreement between the United States Department of the Army and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, reflecting Phase 7 of the Flood Preparedness Study, a copy of which agreement is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is approved and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.
