A resolution honoring the service of Freddie, an Explosive Ordinance Detection K9 Officer, with the Department of Public Safety of the Nashville International Airport.

WHEREAS, K9 Officer Freddie served with the Department of Public Safety from 2020 to 2025 to keep the traveling public safe at Nashville International Airport; and
WHEREAS, Freddie worked tirelessly responding to suspicious items and unattended bags and conducting vehicle sweeps; and
WHEREAS, Freddie has worked details for President Donald Trump, former President Joe Biden, and former President Jimmy Carter, along with Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Florida. Most recently, Freddie was selected to help with President Trump’s inauguration in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, Freddie was medically retired at the age of seven after being diagnosed with fungal pneumonia, which is directly related to his work as a detection dog. He now lives with Officer Steven Beard and his family who adopted him; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper for the Metropolitan Council to recognize the work of Explosive Ordinance Detection K9 Officer Freddie and his handler, Officer Steven Beard, for their public safety work with the Department of Public Safety of the Nashville International Airport.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Explosive Ordinance Detection K9 Officer Freddie’s service with the Department of Public Safety of Nashville International Airport.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
