A resolution honoring Kenny Smoov on the occasion of his promotion.

Body

WHEREAS, the Council takes great pleasure in recognizing a radio professional who has utilized his natural talent and hard-driving work ethic to reach the frontline of the next generation of senior industry leaders; and

WHEREAS, Nashville radio personality Kenny Smoov has recently been named Vice President of Urban Formats for Cumulus Media; in this vital position, he will oversee the company's thirty-seven urban-formatted radio stations in twenty-five markets across the United States; and

WHEREAS, already a familiar and popular voice in Nashville, Kenny Smoov will continue to serve as program director and morning host at urban adult contemporary radio station "92Q" WQQK-FM in the Music City; and

WHEREAS, admired and respected by his peers for his work in radio programming, Kenny Smoov has enjoyed great success in Nashville, as evidenced by his selection as Favorite Radio Personality of the Year by The Tennessean in 2017; and

WHEREAS, a proud Desert Storm military veteran, Kenny Smoov has previously worked at radio stations in New Orleans, Greensboro, and Myrtle Beach; and

WHEREAS, given his outstanding track record in Nashville, we are confident that Kenny Smoov will continue to excel in his new role with Cumulus Media; and

WHEREAS, Kenny Smoov is most worthy of the Council’s approbation on this special occasion.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring and congratulating Kenny Smoov on his promotion to serve as Vice President of Urban Formats for Cumulus Media and wish him all the best as he fulfills this new role in addition to his work at 92Q.

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
