A resolution authorizing Fairgrounds Nashville and Municipal Auditorium to accept Community Development Block Grant funds from the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency.

WHEREAS, the Coronavirus Act, Relief and Economic Security Act ("CARES ACT") identified funds from Community and Planning Development programs administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD"), such as Community Development Block Grant ("CDBG"), to be used to respond to the Coronavirus outbreak; and,
WHEREAS, Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency ("MDHA") was designated as the lead agency for the development and administration of the funds provided by the CARES ACT; and,
WHEREAS, the Fairgrounds Nashville's exposition venue and the Municipal Auditorium were used as homeless and medical shelters during the pandemic; and,
WHEREAS, MDHA has agreed to utilize CDBG funds to reimburse Fairgrounds Nashville $663,292.74 and Municipal Auditorium $254,627.22, representing depreciation costs and property insurance costs, incurred while the facilities were used as homeless shelters.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That Fairgrounds Nashville and Municipal Auditorium are authorized to accept Community Development Block Grant funds from the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency.
Section 2. That the amount of $254,627.22 be appropriated to the Municipal Auditorium under Fund# 60161 BU 61501530.
Section 3. That the amount of $663,292.74 be appropriated to the Fairgrounds Nashville under Fund# 60156 BU 62507200.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
