A resolution recognizing the month of May as Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, every year, Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is observed in May to recognize the contributions of Asians, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders; and

 

WHEREAS, Nashville is home to over 25,000 residents that identify as Asian or Pacific Islander; and

 

WHEREAS, the Asian and Pacific Islander community has helped make Nashville a more diverse city with thriving communities through arts, culture, and business; and

 

WHEREAS, the city of Nashville encourages the community to learn about and celebrate its Asian and Pacific Islander community.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

 

Section 1.  The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the month of May as Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

 

Section 2.  This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
