body
WHEREAS, the Nashville Conflict Resolution Center ("NCRC") was founded as a volunteer organization by members of the Nashville Bar Association in 2000 to provide people with efficient, cheap, and stress-free access to justice; and
WHEREAS, since its founding, the NCRC has provided access to free and low-cost mediation for low-income residents, non-profits, and small business owners of Nashville and Davidson County. Through mediation, NCRC has helped their participants to retain control of their cases' outcomes by creating realistic and sustainable solutions quickly and cost-effectively; and
WHEREAS, in its 25th year, NCRC continues to achieve results for their participants. NCRC has managed a 73 percent agreement rate, serving 2,067 individuals through 1,134 hours of mediation. The organization's dedication to the people of Nashville and Davidson County has resulted in 349 completed parenting cases, 229 completed civil cases, and 35 completed victim offender cases in 2025; and
WHEREAS, NCRC has expanded their services across Middle Tennessee through remote mediation, referrals, and partnerships with courts in surrounding counties. NCRC also in 2025 mediated 37 cases with an interpreter present; and
WHEREAS, in 2025, NCRC helped stabilize 453 children in their homes and resolve $390,000 in outstanding debt. Further, NCRC has helped to ensure more stable housing for their participants as 62 percent of their landlord-tenant cases ending in agreement avoided an eviction judgment; and
