WHEREAS, the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs, has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed $224,625.00 with no match required to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Office of Family Safety, to offset funding reductions in the current contract to ensure the continued provision of services in Nashville’s Family Safety Centers; and,  

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the grant by and between the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs, in an amount not to exceed $224,625.00, and the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Office of Family Safety, to offset funding reductions in the current contract to ensure the continued provision of services in Nashville’s Family Safety Centers, a copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2.                     That the amount of this grant is to be appropriated to the Office of Family Safety based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution accepts a grant from the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs to the Office of Family and Safety in an amount not to exceed $224,625 with no cash match required. The grant will be used to offset VOCA funding reductions to ensure continued services provided in Nashville’s Family Safety Centers, Jean Crowe Advocacy Center, and Family Safety Center, by funding seven advocates. The grant period begins on July 1, 2023 and ends on June 30, 2024.
