WHEREAS, the Tennessee Valley Authority offers the TVA Energy Right Business and Industry Incentives Program, providing financial incentives for the utilization of energy-saving equipment to support long-term energy sustainability; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government utilized qualifying energy-saving equipment at three Metropolitan Government sites, including HVAC upgrades at the Midtown Hills Police Precinct and the West Police Precinct, and lighting upgrades at the Lentz Public Health Center; and,

WHEREAS, Resolution No. RS2026-1773 approved an application for a TVA Energy Right Business and Industry Incentives Program grant from the Tennessee Valley Authority to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the General Services Department; and,

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Valley Authority has awarded a grant of $52,170.14 with no cash match required to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the General Services Department, for current and future sustainability projects; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant contract be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the grant by and between the Tennessee Valley Authority of $52,170.14 to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the General Services Department, for current and future sustainability projects, is hereby approved.

Section 2.                     That the amount of this grant is to be appropriated to the General Services Department, based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3.                     That the General Services Department is authorized to expend the amount of this grant on current and future sustainability projects of the Metropolitan Government.  

Section 4.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution accepts a TVA Energy Right Business and Industry Incentives Program grant from the Tennessee Valley Authority (“TVA”) to the General Services Department for current and future sustainability projects.

 

TVA and NES offer a rebate program for installation of qualifying energy-saving items including LED lighting HVAC equipment, refrigeration, thermal ice storage, variable speed drives and other initiatives on a case-by-base case basis. Department of General Services projects at Midtown Hills Police Precinct, West Police Precinct and the Lentz Public Health Center qualified.

 

The grant award is $52,170.14, with no cash match required.
