WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations in accordance with the guidelines of the Metropolitan Government; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of Homeless Services, previously entered into a grant contract with Safe Haven Family Shelter for the provision of hotel rooms across the Nashville area for emergency alternative shelter for families with minor children, approved by RS2024-412; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of Homeless Services, entered into Amendment Number One to the grant contract with Safe Haven Family Shelter for the provision of hotel rooms across the Nashville area for emergency alternative shelter for families with minor children, approved by RS2025-1185; and,
WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the grant contract to increase the contract value by $400,000, for a revised contract total of $1,236,400, and extend the term of the contract for 12 months, for a revised contract term of 36 months, a copy of which Amendment Number Two is attached hereto and incorporated herein; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to Safe Haven Family Shelter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated Four Hundred Thousand Dollars ($400,000) from the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Office of Homeless Services, to Safe Haven Family Shelter, bringing the maximum liability under the contract to One Million Two Hundred Thirty Six Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($1,236,400), for the provision of hotel rooms across the Nashville area for emergency alternative shelter for families with minor children.
Section 2. That Amendment Number Two to the grant contract between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of Homeless Services, and Safe Haven Family Shelter, to increase the grant contract value by $400,00 for a revised contract total of $1,236,400, and to extend the term of the grant contract for 12 months, for a revised contract term of 36 months, a copy of which Amendment Number Two is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.
Section 3 That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
