A resolution approving an application for a Community Project Fund - Congressionally Directed Spending grant from the U. S. Department of Agriculture to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Water and Sewerage Services Department, to help replant Nashville’s diminishing tree canopy and retain all the benefits it provides.

WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for a Community Project Fund - Congressionally Directed Spending grant with an award of $1,078,020.00 with no cash match required to help replant Nashville’s diminishing tree canopy and retain all the benefits it provides; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan Government’s application for a Community Project Fund - Congressionally Directed Spending grant with an award of $1,078,020.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville Water and Sewerage Services Department is authorized to submit said application to the U. S. Department of Agriculture.
Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves an application for a Community Project Fund - Congressionally Directed Spending grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to the Metropolitan Nashville Water and Sewerage Services Department. If awarded, the grant amount would be not to exceed $1,078,020. The grant would be used towards tree planting through contracted non-profit partners on private property, a pilot ash tree removal and tree replanting in Metro right-of-way.
