WHEREAS, the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (applicant) has requested the street renaming; and,

WHEREAS, a development known as North Lights has proposed to continue Toney Road from an improved portion of Toney Road to Old Matthews Road; and,

WHEREAS, there is an unimproved section of Toney Road that is not part of the newly proposed continuation of Toney Road (“Unimproved Toney Road”); and,

WHEREAS, having two different roadways with the same name, Toney Road, could cause confusion and delays for emergency responders responding to the location; and,

WHEREAS, the proposed request to rename this roadway has been submitted to and approved by the Metropolitan Planning Commission, and other relevant agencies of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, in accordance with Metropolitan Code § 13.08.015.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the Geographic Information Systems Street and Alley Centerline Layer for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, be and is hereby amended, as follows:

Unimproved Toney Road, from the northeast corner of parcel 07101000700 to dead end, shall be named “Lillard Lane”, as depicted on the maps attached hereto and incorporated by reference.

Section 2.                      The Director of the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure be and hereby is authorized and directed, upon the enactment and approval of this ordinance, to cause said change to be made on said map as set out in Section 1 of this ordinance, and to make notation thereon of reference to the date of passage and approval of this amendatory ordinance.

Section 3.        Amendments to this legislation may be approved by resolution.

Section 4.                       This ordinance shall take effect immediately after its passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This ordinance renames an unimproved portion of Toney Road to “Lillard Lane.” This street renaming was requested by the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure.

 

This proposal has been approved by the Planning Commission. This legislation requires a recommendation from the Emergency Communications District Board and a written report regarding the historical significance of the street name from the Historical Commission prior to approval on second reading. The legislation is scheduled for the April 17 meeting of the Emergency Communications District Board.
