title

A resolution recognizing Nashville Soccer Club's 100th all-time victory as a Major League Soccer club and the 100th goal that Hany Mukhtar has scored with the team.

body

WHEREAS, Nashville Soccer Club (“Nashville SC”) joined Major League Soccer as an expansion club in 2020 and rapidly established itself as one of the premier organizations in American professional soccer; and

WHEREAS, on May 13, 2026, Nashville SC secured its 100th all-time win across all competitions with a 3-0 shutout victory over the New England Revolution, extending the club's MLS unbeaten streak to six matches; and

WHEREAS, Nashville SC's 100 wins span five competitions - the MLS regular season, MLS playoffs, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, the Leagues Cup, and the Concacaf Champions Cup, reflecting the breadth and consistency of the club's excellence on the national and international stage; and

WHEREAS, Nashville SC reached this mark in 248 all-time matches, maintaining a 40 percent win rate across six seasons in the top flight of American soccer; and

WHEREAS, defender Dan Lovitz has been with the club for all 100 of those victories and reflected that reaching this milestone was "incredibly humbling" and something in which he takes "a ton of pride"; and

WHEREAS, head coach B.J. Callaghan called the achievement "a proud moment for the whole club," noting it is "much bigger than ourselves" and represents a celebration of all past players, coaches, staff, and the fans who have supported Nashville SC since its founding; and

WHEREAS, just four days later, on May 17, 2026, Nashville Soccer Club made history again. Hany Mukhtar logged a hat trick with three goals, and Brian Schwake made seven saves as Nashville SC held off Los Angeles Football Club 3-2, extending their win streak to seven; and

WHEREAS, Mukhtar's second goal - a bending free kick from the left side of the box in the 21st minute - marked his 100th goal across all competitions in his seven years with the franchise; and

WHEREAS, since Mukhtar arrived in Nashville ahead of the club's 2020 expansion season, no player in the league has scored more regular-season goals than his 88. He recently became the third-fastest player in MLS history to reach 150 career goal contributions, behind only legends Landon Donovan and Preki; and

WHEREAS, Mukhtar, the 2022 Landon Donovan MLS MVP and Nashville SC's full-time captain, has evolved into not only a scorer of remarkable goals, but a facilitator, vocal leader, and unselfish contributor whose off-ball work and team-first approach defines what it means to be a Nashville SC player; and

WHEREAS, upon scoring his 100th goal, Mukhtar reflected: "Scoring so many goals for Nashville SC, being the first designated player, it is a very, very special story for me personally. I don't take that for granted, that they have promised me a lot, and they kept all their promises, and that is not often in professional soccer"; and

WHEREAS, Nashville SC's success on the pitch reflects the pride, passion, and spirit of the people of Nashville and Davidson County and continues to shine a national and international spotlight on our great city.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and commending Nashville Soccer Club on the occasion of its 100th all-time win and Hany Mukhtar on his 100th career goal with Nashville SC, and extends its congratulations to the players, coaches, front office, and the passionate supporter groups who make GEODIS Park one of the most electric venues in American soccer.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council further expresses its gratitude for the role Nashville SC plays in uniting the community, elevating Nashville's national profile, and embodying the best of what the city has to offer - and looks forward to many more historic moments to come.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
