Agenda Analysis

Analysis

This resolution approves a grant application and accepts a grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (“TDEC”) and the Department of Water and Sewerage Services (“MWS”) to provide a lead service line final inventory and replacement plan.

The grant allows MWS to advance a complete and accurate inventory of lead service lines and development of a replacement plan for these lines. This work will help identify potential lead exposure risks, plan future pipe replacement activities, and ensure long-term water quality and community safety.

The grant award is an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 with a required cash match of $250,000. The grant term is effective January 1, 2024 and ends on December 31, 2026.
