WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transit Authority, doing business as WeGo Public Transit, was created pursuant to private act and Article 64 of the Metropolitan Government’s Charter; and,
WHEREAS, Article 64, Section 5(b) of the Charter provides that “[a]ll properties, rights, and things acquired by or for the authority … shall be acquired, held, owned, transferred and conveyed in the name of the metropolitan government …”; and,
WHEREAS, WeGo holds an approximately 1.11-acre parcel of property (the “Property”) at 4016 Andrew Jackson Way (Parcel ID No. 08600026100); and,
WHEREAS, WeGo’s acquisition of the Property was funded in part by a grant (the “Grant”) from the Federal Transportation Administration (“FTA”); and,
WHEREAS, WeGo has no current or planned need for the Property; and,
WHEREAS, the Property is well suited for use by the Department of Waste Services (“DWS”) for a convenience center; and,
WHEREAS, the value of the Property as determined by appraisal is $170,000; and,
WHEREAS, with FTA’s concurrence, WeGo proposes to transfer control and management of the Property to DWS in exchange for a payment of $170,000, which funds will be paid back to FTA; and,
WHEREAS, approving the transfer of control and management of the Property to DWS and authorizing a one-time payment to WeGo in the amount of $170,000 will serve the public interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The transfer of management and control of the Property to DWS is approved, and the Director of Finance is authorized to make a one-time payment to WeGo in the amount of $170,000 on account of such transfer.
Section 2. Transfer of the Property shall be memorialized by quitclaim deed in form approved by the Director of Law.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

WeGo owns a 1.11-acre property at 4016 Andrew Jackson Way. WeGo does not have any current or planned need for the property. This property was acquired using funds from the Federal Transportation Administration (“FTA”). With concurrence from the FTA, this facility will be transferred to DWS for use as a convenience center. The grant funds will be paid back to the FTA. The facility was appraised at $170,000.
Fiscal Note: According to the Assessor of Property’s website, the appraised value of 4016 Andrew Jackson Way, a 1.11-acre parcel, is $406,100. Metropolitan Government will pay WeGo Public Transit $170,000 for the property.
