WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government owns a parcel of property and improvements (collectively, the “Property”) at 63 Hermitage Avenue (Parcel ID No. 09311020700), as shown on Exhibit A; and,

WHEREAS, the Property until recently served as the headquarters for the Nashville Fire Department (“NFD”), but the Property is not large enough for NFD’s current needs; and,

WHEREAS, NFD headquarters has temporarily moved into space owned by the Metropolitan Government at the Global Mall and will move into new permanent space on the site of Fire Hall 2 upon completion of improvements on that site; and,

WHEREAS, the Property has an appraised value of $6,240,000; and,

WHEREAS, the Property is well suited for use by the Department of Water and Sewerage Services (“MWS”); and,

WHEREAS, approving the transfer of control and management of the Property to MWS and authorizing MWS to make a one-time payment to the Metropolitan Government in the amount of $6,240,000 will serve the public interest.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                      The transfer of management and control of the Property to MWS is approved, and  MWS is authorized to make a one-time payment to the Metropolitan Government in the amount of $6,240,000 on account of such transfer.

Section 2.                      MWS shall be entitled to use of parking areas adjacent to the Property so long as such areas are available.

Section 3.                     MWS shall recognize and honor the lease approved by RS2025-1568.

Section 4.                      This Resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves the transfer of control and management of property from the Nashville Fire Department (“NFD”) to the Department of Water and Sewerage Services (“MWS”).

 

NFD has temporarily moved its headquarters to the Global Mall, leaving the old headquarters located at 63 Hermitage Avenue vacant. This facility will be transferred to MWS, and MWS will pay the Metropolitan Government $6,240,000 for the property. The facility was appraised for $6,240,000

 

This transferal will not affect the lease approved in Resolution No. RS2025-1568. Pursuant to RS2025-1568, the East Bank Development Authority leases office space at 730 President Ronald Reagan Way and 63 Hermitage Avenue for five years at a rate of $100 a month.

 

This resolution was approved by the Planning Commission.

 

Fiscal Note: Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services (“MWS”) will pay Metro a one-time payment of $6,240,000 for the transfer of control and management of the property at 63 Hermitage Avenue. MWS will honor the lease with East Bank Development Authority (“EDBA”) of $1,200 per year or $100 per month.
