A resolution honoring the life of Metropolitan Nashville Police Department North Precinct Commander Anthony McClain.

WHEREAS, on March 9, 2025, Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (“MNPD”) North Precinct Commander Anthony McClain died from complications after suffering a heart attack in his office on February 13, 2025; and

 

WHEREAS, Commander McClain was a 27-year veteran of MNPD; and

 

WHEREAS, McClain joined the United States Air Force in 1989 and served until 1994; and

 

WHEREAS, he went on to attend Tennessee State University, where he graduated in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice; and

 

WHEREAS, in August 1997, McClain started officer training with MNPD and graduated in December 1997; and

 

WHEREAS, during his career with MNPD, he served as a patrolman at the Central Precinct and a detective in the Domestic Violence and Sex Abuse Units; and

 

WHEREAS, he was promoted to sergeant in 2007 and supervised shifts at the East, South, North and Central Precincts prior to his promotion to lieutenant in 2012; and

 

WHEREAS, as a lieutenant, McClain led patrol details at the North, South and West Precincts before his transfer to supervise the Specialized Investigations Division's Narcotics Unit in 2019; and

 

WHEREAS, he was promoted to Captain of the Special Victims Division in December 2020 and became the Commander of the North Precinct in 2021; and

 

WHEREAS, while his life was tragically cut short, Commander McClain left an indelible mark on MNPD and the community of Nashville and Davidson County; and

 

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council honor the life of Commander McClain.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY THAT:

 

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring the life of Metropolitan Nashville Police Department North Precinct Commander Anthony McClain and expressing condolences to his family and friends.

 

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
