A resolution commending and honoring Daron Hall upon his retirement as Davidson County Sheriff.

body
WHEREAS, Daron Hall concluded decades of public service to Nashville and Davidson County upon his retirement as Davidson County Sheriff on October 19, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hall served more than 24 years as the Davidson County Sheriff after being elected to the countywide office seven times. He is the youngest and longest-serving Sheriff in the history of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, the former sheriff, a Nashville native and graduate of Antioch High School, spent a total of 35 years with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, more than half of his life; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure as sheriff, Mr. Hall focused his law enforcement efforts towards “arresting the problem, not the person”; and

WHEREAS, as sheriff, Mr. Hall oversaw the design and construction of a multimillion-dollar, 762-bed Downtown Detention Center; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Hall designed and implemented the first-of-its-kind Behavioral Care Center within the Downtown Detention Center, a diversion program focused on decriminalizing mental illness that received national recognition; and

WHEREAS, in recent months, the retired sheriff helped secure funding in the Mayor’s proposed Capital Spending Plan for the Sheriff’s Office’s southeast campus to help alleviate overcrowding and successfully sued the State of Tennessee relative to the prolonged detention of state inmates at local jails; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper for the Metropolitan Council to recognize former Sheriff Hall for his decades of leadership of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office lifetime of service to Nashville and Davidson County.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as commending and honoring Daron Hall upon retirement from the office of Davidson County Sheriff.

Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
